Joseph Robert Patterson seriously beaten to 2-year-old son

The Minnesota Vikings running back’s Peterson‘s 2-year-old son is in critical condition at a South Dakota hospital. Adrian , was seriously beaten allegedly by suspect Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, who is reportedly dating the little boy’s mother. Joseph was watching the boy on the night of the incident. The toddler remains in critical condition at a Sioux Falls hospital.

The story is more complicated than originally reported. TMZ is now saying that “the injured child is Adrian’s son, but it’s not Adrian Peterson Jr.”

Adrian Peterson’s father has confirmed that the boy injured is not Adrian Jr., but is his grandson. ”All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation,” Nelson Peterson told Pioneer Press on Oct. 11.

The toddler died from his injuries. This is a breaking news story.

Adrian’s son was reportedly rushed to the hospital following a brutal attack.



“Emergency responders responded to a call at about 5:45 PM on Wednesday 9th Oct 2013” the Sioux Falls Police Department told. “The initial call was made for medical attention, the caller said that a 2-year-old was choking. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the child unresponsive.”

The little boy was immediately taken to a South Dakota hospital. “Medical staff found that the injuries were not consistent with choking, but rather with head injuries, consistent with abuse,” the police said.

Joseph Patterson, the man caring for the boy at the time of the incident, was arrested. “Police arrested Patterson yesterday and charged him with two counts: aggravated battery of an infant, and aggravated assault.”

“He made his first court appearance this morning 11th Oct 2013” the police said of Patterson. “He was formally charged with the two counts.”
